Efficient Single Frequency Estimators

چکیده
The estimation of the frequency of a single sinusoid embedded in additive white Gaussian noise is one of the classical problems of signal processing. It has importance in many applications in communications, where frequency estimation is used for decoding, and in radar processing and sonar processing. The problem of frequency estimation has been widely explored, but there is still room for a better estimator: an estimator which approaches statistical efficiency over a larger region of parameter space, and which is less computationally intensive. An improved estimator is presented which better meets these criteria. Consider a complex sinusoidal signal which has been corrupted by noise in the receiver. The received samples, xn, can be expressed as follows:

On the Estimation of Sampling Clock Frequency Offset in Single and Multiple Carrier Systems
The aim of this correspondence is to report in a closed-form expression a lower bound on the performance of sampling clock frequency offset (SFO) estimators for both single carrier and multi-carrier linearly modulated signals. This benchmark is expressed in terms of the so-called modified CramerRao bound (MCRB), which is shown to coincide asymptotically asymptotically (large sample) with the Cr...
متن کاملBias Reduction for Direct Frequency Estimator of Complex Sinusoid
Frequency estimation of single-tone complex sinusoid is a fundamental problem in signal processing. An efficient way to estimate the frequency is to directly calculate the frequency from three discrete Fourier transform coefficients in the neighborhood of peak magnitude spectrum. Because of the approximation used in the calculation, these direct estimators exhibit non-uniform biases. In this pa...
متن کاملAn Efficient Hierarchical Modulation based Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Transmission Scheme for Digital Video Broadcasting
Due to the increase of users the efficient usage of spectrum plays an important role in digital terrestrial television networks. In digital video broadcasting, local and global content are transmitted by single frequency network and multifrequency network respectively. Multifrequency network support transmission of global content and it consumes large spectrum. Similarly local content are well ...
متن کاملInferring population mutation rate and sequencing error rate using the SNP frequency spectrum in a sample of DNA sequences.
One challenge of analyzing samples of DNA sequences is to account for the nonnegligible polymorphisms produced by error when the sequencing error rate is high or the sample size is large. Specifically, those artificial sequence variations will bias the observed single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) frequency spectrum, which in turn may further bias the estimators of the population mutation rate ...
متن کاملEfficient Two-dimensional Frequency and Damping Estimation by Interpolation on Fourier Coefficients
This paper focuses on the efficient estimation of the frequencies and damping factors of a single two-dimensional (2-D) damped complex exponential in additive Gaussian noise. We derive the estimators by extending the FFT-based frequency estimator that relies on interpolation on Fourier coefficients to 2-D damped signals. Performance analysis shows that the algorithm can achieve minimum variance...

This paper proposes a new sliding mode control (SMC) based model reference adaptive system (MRAS) for sensorless indirect field oriented control (IFOC) of a single-sided linear induction motor (SLIM). The operation of MRAS speed estimators dramatically depends on adaptation mechanism. Fixed-gain PI controller is conventionally used for this purpose which may fail to estimate the speed correctl...
